Wassup Hollywood? I got some questions

What do movies like Detroit, Django, 12 years a slave, Salem and the movies similar to it get out of consistently create movies depicting black characters less than others although these films are histrionically accurate and often show the protagonist rising against the odds. Why do directors always take this approach?

In this blog I want to talk about why people continue to focus on sad black movies instead of creating more new enlightening or uplifting & why does Hollywood continue to produce these films.

Can Hollywood move forward from sad Black stories and focus on more empowering content, but one question I take away from this is “ how can i help empower my culture through art if I am complaining about others”

I’m not the person that feels this way about films in Hollywood according to Keertana Sastry who said “Hollywood has a reputation for being a liberal bastion of political correctness. But as these appalling movies show, it wasn’t always so.Some of them—such as 1975’s Mandingo—are almost fetishistically racist.

Others are fantastic movies degraded because stereotypical characters such as Long Duk Dong from “Sixteen Candles” or Mr. Yunioshi from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

We’ve compiled a list of the worst racist indiscretions made in Hollywood from the very birth of film.”

As consumers where do we draw the line. This problem has because so relevant even the president has spoke on it while speaking to press outside the White House. The president moved on from criticizing big tech companies to criticizing Hollywood. “Hollywood – I don’t call them the elites because I think the elites are people they go after, in many cases – but Hollywood is really terrible,”

he said. “You talk about racist, Hollywood is racist. What they’re doing with the kind of movies they’re putting out, it’s actually very dangerous for our country. What Hollywood is doing is a tremendous disservice to our country.” and i agree with him Hollywood has shown its ugly side several times before.
