The Man That’s Outta Sight, He’s Dolemite

Rudy Ray Moore or better known by his stage-name Dolemite paved a way for adult comedy albums, stand up with music in the background and blaxploitation or blacksploitation films. Dolemite has a large Discography and filmography because he has done a little of everything under the sun, but throughout all of the films here is my Top 5 films. (FYI I didnt make the list because of the cover art

5. DOLEMITE

Dolomite First film which he helped produce should be a national treasure. This is actually the second film of his I watched with ” The Human Tornado” being the first, but what I liked most about this film is the truth. During the 70’s black actors wasn’t allowed to reenact the reality blacks faced in a comedic manor because it was deemed not entertaining. Dolemite being the unfiltered man he is decided to my his own film and it was very successful.

4. PETEY WHEATSRAW

Petey Wheatsraw is one hell of a character also a good person at heart, on the night of his birth he talked to his mother and spanked his doctors butt (its supposed to be the other way around). This film does a good job of showing how much holiness you can create with something that is intended for evil. This is like Bruce Almighty, but with black everything.

3. HUMAN TORNADO

This is the first film I ever seen from Rudy and perhaps my favorite because of the theme song and the story, definitely the song. The Fighting scenes are cringe worthy but the corniness of the action sequence reminds you that Rudy Ray Moore is a actor for better or worse, and the fashion is this movie was amazing. The film portrayed the racial tension back then, but even racial discrimination can’t stop Dolemite.

2. DISCO GODFATHER

I actually never seen this one but I like the cover art

1. DOLEMITE IS MY NAME

The latest film about the man himself Rudy Ray Moore and his career before he started making comedy albums and movies played by one of the greatest comedians of all time Eddie Murphy. It reminds me of a Steve Jobs built from the ground up type of story, but its more relate able because of the time period its set in. There was no Black comedy films back in those day and Rudy despite all of the challenges he had to face he didn’t let anything stop because Dolemite is his name and *#@*ing up Mutha*%$#$% is his game.
